College Student in the Summer

Check out my video displaying some adventures I have taken this summer thus far. Here is the link! There is nothing like sweet summer :)  ONU Student in the Summer

Cuisine

One of the most popular restaurants in Ada, Ohio for students is El Campo, the only authentic Mexican cuisine you can get if you do not want to drive twenty minutes or more. We love it. Some students might even find themselves there multiple times per week. Whether it is a margarita or queso you are in need of after a long week of classes, El Campo provides. But, more recently, since I am living in Ada for the summer, I have discovered that I do not think El Campo is actually that good, or as good as it is cracked up to be. More often than not, whenever I visit El Campo it is usually just for a quick margarita and endless amounts of chips and salsa. Usually, I am just too poor to eat out. I am always satisfied but there are times when I look at meals around me that do not look appealing in the slightest. This is where I have come to the conclusion that students adore El Campo simply because it is all we have in this measly municipality we call Ada, Ohio. My thoughts were provoked

Experience Rocks

Summer in Ada, Ohio is quite peaceful, boring, and extremely empty. If you thought that businesses closed too early during the school year, you must know that they close even earlier in the summer. In my previous blog post, I mentioned my fear of attending ONU because it of the size but with time I realized what a great education I am receiving. What I forgot to mention was the incredible, remarkable, wonderful, and ASTOUNDING people I have met. So, when they all disappear on me in the summer, I get sad. Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to fulfill the internship requirement for my communications degree. The stress level I had trying to find an internship was sky high but with the help of a family friend, I got one. I regret waiting until this summer to fulfill it, but with musical theatre and auditions, it is almost impossible to be certain what your next job will be. I am interning at a small advertising agency and it has been a refreshing experience and it has kept me bus

Bringing Your A Game

Image
This afternoon I was given the chance to watch a presentation on Webinar, which I have not used before. It was a great experience. “Bringing Your A Game” is a presentation by Karen Freberg and compares the public relations industry with the sports industry and how the two relate. I was very intrigued by this Webinar because I have experienced being on a sports team before and continue with team efforts when I am involved in a play or musical ensemble. Watching the Webinar that Dr. Freberg gave opened my eyes to the opportunities that can be taken to excel when comparing the two industries. Both are fast paced, must be innovative, willing to experiment, and learn from experiences. If you missed my live-tweeting session and would like to see a complete recap, check out my Storify !

Cornfields and Crying

Cornfields and Crying I remember wanting to cry before I left for college because I did not want to go to Ohio Northern University. I had the hardest time grasping the fact that I would be at this small of a school and essentially live in a cornfield. I come from a town that is close to this school and it made me cringe even more because all I wanted to do was get out and move far away. I enjoy big cities and I love meeting all sorts of different and eccentric people so you can see why I was a little scared to come here. But what brought me here was my passion for music and knowing that it was imperative I pursue a degree in musical theatre and at ONU, you are sure to earn a wonderful education for a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. Despite my anxiety of living in this small of a town, I can honestly say I am glad I chose this school. Not only do I get to do what I love with music but I also get to major in communications. Double majoring might sound dreadful to your average college

President Trump and His Twitter Antics

Blog Post One: The President and Social Media Whether you like him or not one of the most questionable aspects of Donald Trump and his presidency would have to undoubtedly be his use of social media, specifically, Twitter. Throughout the entire election tweets emerged from the president that left not only the American people commenting and poking fun, but the entire world as well. There were also tweets that emerged that totally contradicted opinions he stood for as a presidential candidate. Now that he is our 45 th president, his shameless tweets have raised controversy that leaves many wondering if what he says is actually appropriate, considering he is in fact the leader of our country. “Despite the constant negative press covfefe,” he tweeted in May of 2017. This is one of several tweets that left the world thinking, “what?” Before hitting the tweet button that allows 140 characters of free speech, maybe he should learn the importance of spell check because grammar matter
